PRESS RELEASE (Martha's Vineyard) The Louisa Gould Gallery is excited to welcome quests to view the renovated gallery. Please join us on Saturday May 23^rd from 6-8pm for an opening reception for the artists in this group show. Come and listen to live music and enjoy refreshments. Please welcome these artists returning to the Gallery for our seventh season: John Holladay, Alan Eddy, Howard Park, Maya Farber, Ovid Ward, Laura Roberts, Ellen Liman, Leslie S. Smith, Jules Worthington, Caryn King, Louisa Gould and Kate Huntington.

The show has over fifty new works ranging in styles and mediums. The styles of art range from photo-realism, to representational to impressionistic. The mediums include watercolors, oils, jewelry and mixed media. “I love this show and time of year on the Vineyard as everything is new and fresh and it's the start of the summer. We witness what the artists have been creating throughout the winter and can partake in the their personal evolution and changes on canvas. For example, well-known island artist John Holladay has created a broad range of work. Known for his watercolors which have stunning clarity and detail, Holladay has expanded to oils. He has transcended the influence of Wolf Kahn and presents bright, primary colors on large canvasses with a Vineyard subject. Pushing the envelope further, Holladay has a selection of smaller oil washes that are a polar opposites of his monochromatic, large, acrylics and oils. To me, John's work represents a transition from a winter with black and white contrast and sepia tones to a springtime with more and more hues. These smaller pieces are a true burst of color, inspiration and hope. Louisa Gould
