It’s Wild! The Louisa Gould Gallery in Vineyard Haven Presents the Wildlife Art of Linda Besse
Who would paddle a canoe 459 miles above the Arctic Circle to see muskox in the wild, or watch polar bears from a tiny willow blind, or swim with beluga whales in Hudson Bay, or canoe along the Zambezi River in Zimbabwe for a closer look at elephants and hippos? That would be wildlife artist Linda Besse. The Louisa Gould Gallery has long represented the original oil paintings of Linda Besse depicting the sea, sand, and shore of Martha’s Vineyard.
From May 1 - June 20, the gallery will be offering thirteen original oil paintings by Linda Besse depicting wildlife.
Linda Besse is a Signature Member of Oil Painters of America, the Society of Animal Artists, and the American Society of Marine Artists. She has traveled to all fifty states, over forty-five countries, and all seven continents to see wildlife in its natural habitat. Linda has won Best of Show with the National Oil & Acrylic Painters Society, Best Wildlife Award at the National Oil Painters of America show, Best Wildlife at the International Guild of Realism, and been Featured Artist at the NatureWorks show and Safari Club International.
One of the paintings which will be in this gallery show is Range Runners, a depiction of three horses from the wild Pryor Mountain herd which Linda saw in Wyoming. This painting won the Jean Bowman award at the American Academy of Equine Artists National Show.
